MIL-STD 464 establishes electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) interface requirements and verification criteria for airborne, sea, space, and ground systems, including associated ordnance. It identifies the specific requirements for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects military systems. A system has a broad definition as it includes several platforms, including ships, aircraft, vehicle, as well as weapons and ordinance.
Testing at the system level includes the combination of sub systems and other equipment. For aircraft applications where equipment verification has not been completed prior to first-flight use on the aircraft, the following MIL-STD-461 testing should be completed prior to flight to ensure flight safety: RE102, RS103, CS114, CS115, and CS116 for safety-critical equipment and RE102 for all other equipment.”
D.L.S. provides testing services that are consistent with the use of MIL-STD 461 for electrical equipment and sub systems testing for radiated and conducted emissions, along with radiated and conducted susceptibility that are part of a series of similar devices or sub systems that would comprise a platform that is required to meet MIL-STD 464. Power quality testing requirements, such as MIL-STD 704, MIL-STD 1275, and MIL-STD 1399 are often included as part of a qualification process for equipment and sub systems on applicable platforms.
