DIRECTIVE 95/5/EC TESTING
|

The R&TTE Directive, introduced April 2000, offers the manufacturer greater flexibility and opportunity for entry into the European market for telecommunications and radio transmitter equipment. It also places a greater burden of responsibility on the manufacturer for the conformity of his equipment. The Directive defines a set of Essential Requirements that must be met before marketing in the European Community. In general the route to follow in order to meet the Essential Requirements is to test the product to the applicable Harmonized Standard and then file a DoC with the European Union (EU). Using a Harmonized Standard gives the manufacturer a Presumption of Conformity with the Essential Requirements set forth in the Directive. If a Harmonized Standard cannot be used, the manufacturer can write a Technical Construction File (TCF) detailing the tests to be run in order to meet the Essential Requirements. A CAB should review the TCF in order to help determine if the Essential Requirements are met. The TCF is used as a guide for the testing of the product, and once the product makes it through the testing process, a DoC is filed with the EU. D.L.S. Electronic Systems is a CAB for Radio Transmitters under the R&TTE Directive. We also offer test services covering the EMC requirements of the Directive. We are proud to announce that we also have a working alliance with NEMKO, which benefits our clients by allowing them access to countries that are not Member States under the R&TTE Directive. |
