HARMONIC EMISSIONS

ATTENTION: The electromagnetic compatibility and product safety requirements for European Product Standards for CE Marking are identified below. D.L.S. offers a single location for all CE certification requirements and will walk you through the declaration process.

BE AWARE: The focus of this harmonic emission information is to help make manufacturers aware that the EMC Product Standard EN 61000-3-2:1955 "Limits for harmonic current emissions (equipment input <16A per phase)" is in effect for all devices being marketed to residential, commercial and light industrial environments.

It is assumed that most manufacturers marketing in Europe today have experience with the required CE approvals. The Harmonic Standard EN 61000-3-2 supersedes the older EN 60555-2:1987. The scope of EN 61000-3-2 includes household products, along with commercial and light industrial (domestic) products. The standard includes limits for different classifications of devices, e.g. Class A, B, C or D equipment. Class D Covers equipment having a defined current waveform characteristic. This special waveshape is intended to evaluate equipment using switch-mode power supplies for which the class D limit is proportional to the power consumed.

TAKE ACTION: Speed counts when taking your products to market. D.L.S. is one of the few testing and certification organizations that can perform all the necessary tests required for the CE mark, as well as offer design assistance, troubleshooting, and problem solving from a certified NARTE engineering staff.
